Introductory remarks to Yahoo group

Part 1, Revision 2

to be sent out to members, 28 July 2003
and to be used at other times for an introduction to some "basics"

Many have rebelled or drifted away from the religion of their elders or their peers, but find that there is still a need to seek answers...

Isolation sometimes results from that drifting away, and we still find a longing for a comforting place to come for a time of fellowship after a week among "the others"...

We are a group of people who are gradually finding each other, and in finding each other, we find more peace and more growth in ourselves...

We find that if are open to the universe around us and if we can agree to be "friends" in our relations with each other in our fellowship, we can build a community that can grow into our vision of a greater awareness for ourselves and a freer and more peaceful place for us all...

We seek development of the whole of our lives: Body, Mind, Heart & Soul (physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual), so our meeting topics may seem to jump from one to the other, but in that they are all interrelated, we find they are all part of a whole...

Are we a church? Well, yes and no... We are a meetingplace for seekers of knowledge, wisdom and development of the soul, but we are not bound by any single doctrine or articles of faith...

How can we live with the uncertainty of not having an exact "system"? Man throughout the ages had even less knowledge than we and his "certainty" of knowing that things all work according to a system has been shaken many times before...

We continue our quest with the openness to any newfound knowledge that will help us in our exploration...

We hope you will join us on that quest...
