community and commerce |

When one does work for the sole purpose of gaining something tangible, usually money, one is said to be "in commerce." Obviously when one does work around the house, say, moving the lawn, that is obviously not done in commerce and one can't charge oneself or one's family for the services rendered. There is a benefit to oneself which is less tangible - your home is beautified and you are enriched by the work you did, but it is one of those things that "money can't buy." You gain also in satisfaction by what you have done. When one joins in community with others and undertakes an effort that you all believe will benefit your community, that effort cannot either be said to be in commerce. We seekers underake various projects in community This page will review the discussions that have gone on regarding the distinctions between work done for one's community and that done in commerce |
