when to begin

"a beginning is a very delicate time...", Dune

Well, we have begun the beginning, so when will we have finished the beginning?

Individuals and small groups have been meeting to discuss the concept of a local gathering of seekers, to meet and get to know each other and to share ideas and visions. As we have said in the "next steps" portion, we think it is necessary to have 5-7 dedicated people to be on the "council" who can guide this gathering into its "official" existence and take all the steps to make that launch successful. Once that core is formed, we will have finished the beginning. Then...

We have set as our goal a "New Beginning" celebration at the time of the winter solstice, December 21, 2002, 8:14PM EST (01:14 UT) at a location to be announced. This will be to celebrate the "beginning of the middle."

If we have reached this date and have not reached a consensus to form a council and to go ahead, I suggest we have a celebration of our visions anyway! We need more celebrations!

the New Beginning celebration

for the "Merrimack valley gathering of seekers" (this name is not official) was held with 4 prospective council members in attendance and it was decided to make their shared vision of a greater gathering come to pass by their efforts. These 4 prospective council members committed themselves to the work of nurturing and growing this fellowship and become, by their dedication to each other and to this task, our founding council. Others may be added to the council as time goes on, but these 4 members have the solemn task of laying the cornerstone for all our future strength.

Our founding council:

Art Haines - Fred Mitchell - Jack Shimek - Rich Tomasso
