up from cynicism and despair |
|
Without understanding of life and the world, a set of beliefs and a personal sense of mission, some are often baffled and disappointed by the events of their daily lives and of the greater world. Some, at this point, fall back to cynicism - (Webster's: "contemptuously distrustful of human nature and motives") and pessimism (Webster's: "an inclination to emphasize adverse aspects, conditions, and possibilities or to expect the worst possible outcome"). A steady dose of this outlook on events leads to despair and hopelessness. One's prospects for progress with this spirit are dim. We encourage a building of the foundation of understanding, the development of positive beliefs and the formation of a personal mission which lifts one's spirit from the level of despair to the joyousness of a pursuit of spiritual progress which transcends the weight of the many inevitable annoyances and obstacles in life. Again, we pursue life as if the glass is half full and we are daily choosing to fill it further. |
