We try to speak clearly and want to make sure we are heard in the way we intend, so we are providing this glossary to increase clarity. We usually use words in their commonly-known meaning, but just in case one is not sure, we include this list.
In some cases, we link to the definition of the word listed from the Merriam-Webster Collegiate dictionary (online version) or the Oxford English Dictionary (links to other online dictionaries). We highlight the sense that we normally use the word in, and if we are using a word in any sense different from the usages above, or if we want to amplify our meaning with some clarifying language or concept, we try to state that clearly on the page for that word. Your comments are always welcome by email.
