value and respect |
|
We value the life force and spirit that we possess, or that possesses us. It is all that we are and we are all of it. We can be no other right now, but we nurture and discover our spirit by our choosing in order for us to become what we can be. We alone and in our community can and will develop ourselves to our fullest flower when free to do so. We find that since we want to be free to choose and to act for ourselves in order to grow, surely others must want the same, and in order for us to have the expectation of being granted that freedom, we must grant it to others. Hence, we respect other's rights to peacable relations in the physical realm, as well as all others. This concept has been called the Golden Rule, though it has traditionally been spoken differently. Our respect extends to people of other beliefs and practices, this being otherwise known as "tolerance." We may not observe others' practices, but we don't openly criticize or ridicule them for theirs. We may choose some of the same path and practices, and we may choose new ones of our own, because we have found ones to more suit our pursuit. Ours are just as hallowed by us... We also, in our seeking, may find one of our own community that is not mindful of this value and respect, but must only use moderation in our responses and continue our respectful stance, lest we fall from our path. If we wish others to join us in our community, we expect it to occur because of attracting them, not because we badgered them to join us. We expect, though, that many are seeking a spiritual home and community like ours... These practices lead us to a more peaceful self, family, community and world. |
