wisdom |

We have seen, in the horrors of the 20th century, many examples of knowledge being applied without wisdom with the result being the annihilation of countless lives. We have found that knowledge is not enough... We seek the wisdom to act in our own lives in a manner that consistently applies our knowledge in a constructive way. It may seem trite, but the line by the chaos theory mathematician (played by Jeff Goldblum) in the movie Jurrasic Park says it all: "Just because we can do it doesn't mean we should do it!" How should we act? That is part of our quest, but again we have ancient and continuingly developing wisdom to draw on. We use our questionings to initiate our contemplations of issues to gain guidance in resolving our position, approach and path (through the complicated web of daily life in the modern world). Growth in our wisdom and resolve makes good decisions easier, almost automatic. As our wisdom grows, we develop keener foresight - we can better understand and predict the results of our actions and the actions of others; we grow from our child-like ways of seeing the world and our place in it without losing the ability to enjoy the world like a child. We strive to grow in wisdom, which places us beyond most men around us. We grow without belittling or harming them, but rather we attract and inspire them. |
